• Details:  A wonderful brooch featuring an angel cameo carved from gorgeous Abalone shell. The stone is set on an oval disc, perhaps it's gold filled but we were unable to confirm, so selling as gold-tone. The pin has a safety clasp, and a hook on back so it can be worn as a pendant as well.  Abalone and Mother of Pearl are very similar, sometimes Mother of Pearl show some iridescent qualities like abalone, however, looking at the back of this piece, we are pretty certain it is Abalone.  But we are not experts, please review the pictures and make your own determination.  We've taken lots of pictures to show you the different iridescent tonalities. Beautiful addition to your jewelry collection and makes a wonderful gift for the holidays or anytime.

Abalone shell is very rare and supply is limited, there are only few shorelines where it grows, also, the harvesting of abalone is a very hard work which makes it a very expensive material, primarily used in jewelry making.
